Harbour and estuarine sediment retention in every MudFlat™ unit provide an alternative way of enhancing biodiversity on artificial coastal structures by providing pockets of vertically placed mudflat habitat capable of mitigating habitat loss by boosting biodiversity and bio-abundance.
MudFlats™ provides a habitat for an assemblage of intertidal mud-dwelling wildlife, including polychaete worms, hydrobiid snails, and insect larvae, typical of disturbed estuarine sediment.
