Hand making the textured finish on a Bouldnor Vertipool

A Bouldnor Vertipool in the early stages of ‘greening’

The original retro-fit artificial rock pool! First installed and trialed on Bouldnor sea defences in 2013 the ‘Bouldnor’ was the subject of a two year study by Dr Alice Hall from Bournemouth University. It’s a big unit at 900mm across the back, 610mm top to tip, 400mm out from the wall. It holds about 10Ltrs of inter-tidal seawater and is designed to withstand highly dynamic conditions. Weighing in at approx 80 kg the Bouldnor is capable of supporting a huge array of marine and intertidal sea life inside and out. Great for mandatory ‘Biodiversity Net Gain’ requirements plus more general ecological enhancements, this model can also support wildlife tourism and citizen science projects. This model has four point ‘cast-in’ fixing bracket fabricated from 316-A4 marine grade stainless steel with 20mm holes.
